I knew from the minute I met Dan and Moriah that I was going to love them and have a blast shooting their wedding. We met at a small bar in Squirrel Hill to discuss their wedding plans and ended up hanging out for a few hours sharing drinks, stories, and many laughs together. Fast forward to their wedding celebration, and let me tell you, I was right, I loved everything about it!Â
The two eloped earlier in the year and threw a small, intimate wedding reception at Bar Marco in the strip district of Pittsburgh to celebrate with family and friends. The event space was beautiful! I loved all of the decor that Dan and Moriah hand made by cutting old wine bottles and turning them into planters. Plus, the artwork, which changes on a regular basis, featured beautiful, bright colors which perfectly mirrored the atmosphere of the party!
We headed into the Strip District area of Pittsburgh for a few portraits before the party started. I just love the industrial, eclectic feel this area of the city has! We found some great murals and brick to shoot in front of and Dan and Moriah even stopped traffic for a few photos. We also took a few portraits inside of Bar Marco… the artwork, the windows, Dan and Moriah being all cute and in love… it was awesome! During the reception, we snuck back outside right before sunset to grab a few more photos when the light was just beautiful, and Moriah wore her leather jacket… can we talk about how good a leather jacket looks with a wedding dress?!?
Despite the awesome portrait sessions and and the killer decor, my absolute FAVORITE moment of the day had to be when everyone sat down for dinner. There were two long tables, and as everyone sat down the noise in the room lowered to the low hum of conversation dotted with few laughs here and there. I looked around and saw everyone with huge smiles on their faces, just so happy to be in the moment, sharing a meal, and enjoying each others company. There was no stress, nothing to prove, just a room radiating love and joy, and honestly, isn’t that what its all about?
